Designed to be ultra-portable, the Cobham EXPLORER 510 is one of the smallest satellite Internet devices available. Smaller than your average laptop and weighing just 3 pounds, it is the perfect solution for those working off-grid, almost anywhere in the world.
To start using the device, simply connect your laptop, smartphone or tablet, point the antenna towards the BGAN satellite using the built-in compass and sound indicator, press a button, and you are good to go.
Once online, you can connect up to ten devices via the Wi-Fi connection, making it a flexible solution for a variety of applications, such as Internet browsing, email, live video broadcasting, phone services, large file transfers, video conferencing and streaming, and VPN applications.
The Cobham EXPLORER 510 provides versatility and high-speed Internet access and supports simultaneous voice and broadband data up to 464 kbps.
The Cobham EXPLORER 510 connects with the Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) so you can expect worldwide coverage, except the Polar Regions.
Inmarsat attains near-global network coverage for voice and data communications using its 3 geostationary (GEO) satellites. Each satellite is equipped with a single spot beam that covers up to one-third of Earth’s surface. Beams cover oceans and land masses to keep users connected even in the harshest conditions.
We are the Satellite experts!
This Satellite phone saved us on the Alcan Highway in British Columbia! We had a wheel come loose and almost fall off. We were stranded 200 miles from towing service and 100 miles from a cell phone tower. This phone SAVED US! Called towing!
Contact person made it easy to arrange for equipment and make date changes to the agreement. A simple, hassle-free experience. Makes my life easier. Included return shipping materials definitely contributed to the positive experience.
The process to secure the phone & ease of return made this transaction so easy.
Sat phone worked well in the mountains. Always able to get reception. Service provided by Cellhire went as planned.
Before going on vacation we unpacked the GO at home (northern NJ), had no problems connecting a Samsung S5 over wireless. We put the GO on the back porch, got 3 bars, and made calls to our home phone and cell phones. Slight delay, you have to speak clearly, otherwise no problem. On vacation in Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk (Northwest Territory, Arctic Ocean, Canada) got 3 bars and same voice quality to family members in New Jersey and Rhode Island. It works.
A human in the U.S. answered the phone when I called and then the product and delivery/packaging was exactly as promised by that human. If you try to go web-only or with an automated answering service, you will be diminishing your company.
My first time ever using a sat phone. No problems at all. Worked on the Kancamagus Highway in the white mountains of New Hampshire.
Your team member Shawn was very helpful when my trip got cancelled so I no longer needed the phone. She explained that it was not a problem and gave me the information I needed to return it.
